Researcher. Curator. Artist. Educator.
Sarahi, in their research, curatorial, and studio practice, investigates how materials carry memory. Their curiosity in materials and material culture is grounded in the technical and chemical studies of unconventional art materials and their ability to signify socio-economic, political, and diasporic identities.
Their past experiences as an educator in museum spaces and a creative director for a BIPOC arts publication have shaped how they value art making as community building and believe the role of an artist within a community should be taken beyond the studio or museum walls. Education and accessibility to art are a priority as they explore how materials and objects become a language for people to express and connect with themselves and others.
